"Ya made me snort root beer out my nose!" Moriah Jovan, The Proviso

"Sharp and pointy." Peg Tittle, What If...

Everyone gets fired at least once in their life. And if not, well, they’re just not trying very hard. And we all think of brilliant and immature 'shoulda saids' and 'shoulda dones' for weeks after. (Okay, years.)

This Will Not Look Good on My Resume edition by Jass Richards Literature Fiction eBooks

A parenthetical toddle through the mind of a sociopathic man-hating character.
I can say that I've never before had more of a book's story handed to me via parenthesis (and asides) as this books has, and quite frankly it's seriously detracts from the story (and makes me want to close the book). The exposition can be accomplished in different ways not using the parenthesis and the asides, but it seems the author was too noobish or lazy (like the character) to actually work at it. The character also has a serious hard-on (or whatever the gender appropriate phraseology is for women) for hating men. After the forth or so implication that we should just "kill 'em all" I deleted the book from my device. This is no different than having a male character spending most of a book telling women they should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen making me a sammich (with mustard and mayo). It may not be a reflection of the author's actual feelings on men (although maybe so) but it makes the character unlikable and my desire to read the story goes down (greatly).
Tired of the parenthetical presentation yet? I am too.
The story does have some amusing moments as she plays with the mind of just about anyone around her, but after a while the humor wore off and the character just looked manipulative, and not in a good way.

This Will Not Look Good on My Resume edition by Jass Richards Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

All the things (if you want to keep your job) that you want to say and don't. The author does come across as a little nose in the air but there were some humorous moments.
There isn't a plot, loads of flippant conflict, no resolution. Waited for insight into the character, or inn e r awakening, empathy. It read like a personal manifesto of contempt for those of unlike thinking. No love. Love for dogs which remained glib and without resolution. No typos, bravo. Twas but sarcastic spewing.
Nothing funny about this dreadful book. The writing is tired and cliche, and the author obviously hates men, religion and well pretty much anything that doesn't match her world view. The only good thing I can say about it is I've never had a book put me to sleep so quickly.
The author has a pretty good sense of humor but is an arrogant know-it-all about everything and chock full of misinformation. She deliberately doesn't do any jobs well. No wonder she kept getting fired. Having an English lit degree WITH HONORS, as she keeps reminding readers, doesn't make her an expert on everything, not even English lit. This book got annoying in a hurry.
Laugh out loud funny, in a ridiculous sort of way, but not much of a plot at all. If you are looking for an easy read that will leave you laughing this is it. If you are looking for any kind of plot or storyline then pass on this one.
And so- I found this book laugh out loud funny most of the time; her antics and proclamations- quite
humorous and right on quite frequently. However- her consistently negative comments about men bordered on misandry and although men can certainly be disdainful in their actions, it felt extreme. Lastly the section on AIDS was extraordinarily distasteful, especially for those of us who have lost dear friends to the dreadful disease. not funny...not at all. And, it is the primary reason why I did not give JR (ironic initials) a 5* review.
I found the first part of the book funny and I sympathized with the heroine. I did not enjoy some of her later misadventures, though, because she got too crazy. She was strange at the beginning of the book but her actions were logical because the people around her were the crazy ones. In the middle of the book, however, she went too bonkers and became annoying just for the sake of being annoying. I actually felt bad for the people who had to deal with her. She also had a European trip and her behavior then was a bit like a female, less funny Mr. Bean. She also became an ultra feminist, borderline misandrist at times. The book ended on a charming note, thankfully, with lots of lovable dogs and our heroine acting like a rational human being again.

By the way, if you are religious and are easily offended by atheist rants, you may want to reconsider.
